Europe Online releases Milestone Version 2.0 for the
Ultimate in Broadband Internet via Satellite
New Client brings improved access and flexibility to High-Speed Bandwith,
Turbo Downloads and first-Run VOD Films in DVD-Quality
Betzdorf, 24 March 2004.
Europe Online, the company who pioneered mass-consumer one-way Broadband Internet via Satellite almost ten years ago released today its milestone high-speed surfing/multimedia client Version 2.0 in cooperation with Eutelsat S.A., one of the world's three largest satellite operators.
The EOL Version 2.0 release, besides high-speed surfing, and turbo downloading. includes dual terrestrial/satellite return routing, multiple transponder hopping, automatic GPRS setting, as well as access to DVD-quality Video on Demand first-run films with digital rights management.
The dual terrestrial/satellite return routing allows users to choose whether they would like to use more satellite or more terrestrial bandwidth for high-speed surfing, bringing more tarif choice and economies to an already very cost efficient service.
The automatic GPRS setting permits users to access the Europe Online Broadband Satellite service from their mobile GPRS-enabled phones, thus making broadband ubiquitous even in sparsely-populated areas where no terrestrial infrastructure for the return path is available..
In addition, Europe Online has recently signed a deal with a DVD rental company to make first-run films available to all EOL members using DVD quality compression and digital rights management to insure payment and quality of service for all stakeholders.
"Europe Online is very pleased that in cooperation with our partner Eutelsat/OpenSky that we once again have raised the barrier in the Broadband Internet via Satellite stakes by offering our users the ultimate in high-speed surfing, turbo-downloading, and entertainment," said Candace Johnson, EOL's President. "There is no other service in the world which offers surfing at speeds of up to 768 kbps, downloads at 2 MB, more than 15 high-quality interactive digital television streams with betting and video on demand of first-run films and this at affordable prices with our EOL DSL Volkstarif of 9.90 Euro per month and our DSL Freedom Dish for ubiquitous coverage throughout Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucuses," concluded Mrs. Johnson.
The EOL 2.0 release is available for downloading on the http://www.europeonline.net web site and is bundled with all satellite modems purchased from the company either directly or through one of their many re-sellers throughout the EMEA, North Africa and Caucuses region.
