Europe Online Extends its Network onto Eutelsat and Introduces 24.90 Euro Tariff for E-DSL via Satellite to all Citizens across Europe
Luxembourg, 30 January 2003
Europe Online, owner and operator of one of the world'sfirst and largest Broadband Internet via Satellite operator, announced today that they are extending their mass-consumer broadband Internet, E-DSL and multi-media service onto the Eutelsat satellite system, thus making it the only operator to be operating on Europe's two premiere satellite systems, Eutelsat and Astra.
In addition, Europe Online announced a new European-wide tariff of 24.90 Euro per month on both satellite systems designed to provide citizens across Europe with interactive, multi-media and DSL-like and cable services all the while enjoying their television and radio signals via satellite and cable.
"We are very excited about extending our Broadband Internet network onto Eutelsat", declared Candace Johnson, President of Europe Online. "This will allow Europe Online to bring its service to all the geographic markets that Eutelsat's satellite system covers, including now those countries in Eastern and Southern Europe as well as Turkey, North Africa and the Middle East who may not have easy access to terrestrial Broadband and DSL infrastructure. In addition, we are particularly pleased to be working with Eutelsat's Open Skybusiness unit who has been leading the field for the last five years in developing and building a superb interactive Broadband and Multimedia platform, applications and service," continued Ms. Johnson. The Europe Online Service on Eutelsat will start March 01, 2003.
"The ability to now cover Europe with its two premier DTH satellite systems has inspired us to introduce the European-wide Broadband DSL via satellite tariff of 24.90 Euro per month. Europe Online’ s E-DSL tariff includes 1 GB of satellite surfing and downloads guaranteed online, 1 GB of turbo downloads for anything off the web at guaranteed 2 Mbps speeds, unlimited access to Europe Online's Download Center with 1000's of MP3's , software, games and films as well as our interactive streaming bouquet of music, sports, andfilm, and the e-mail offline alert service. We believe that all of this plus the ability for the consumer to receive his favorite free to air digital television and radio programs on his or her PC will enable all citizens across Europe to have Broadband at affordable rates from one day to the next and using readily available infrastructure and direct reception equipment,"concluded Ms. Johnson.
