SECTION 7

Using the Europe Online services

How to Receive High Speed Downloads from Europe Online

To receive high speed downloads via satellite on your PC with the Kencast Fazzt software, it is first of all necessary to install your personal Kencast Key.

The Kencast Key can be found on our website http://www.europeonline.net , on which you log in with the username and password that you created for accessing the Europe Online Service.  Then click “Profile“ in the navigation bar on top of the site and re-enter your password. On the profile page you will find the following paragraph at the bottom:

By clicking on the red-coloured “here“ the following download window will appear and prompt you for the download of a six-digit registry key with the extension “.reg”.  Please choose to open this file from its current location and click “OK”.

Then please click “Yes” in the following screen to add the entry into your registry.

Now please log out from our website and stop the Fazzt software by a right mouse click on the pink Fazzt satellite dish symbol in your system tray on the taskbar and choosing “Stop” and then “OK”.  As soon as a small red cross (on a white background) appears below the symbol please do another right-click on the symbol and choose “Start”. Your Kencast Key is then successfully installed and activated.

Prior to requesting a download from our website, please check onto which data transponder you are tuned at present. This can be checked and (if you wish to, changed) in the following menu, which can be opened with a right mouse click on the green satellite dish symbol in your system tray.

Note: in case the EuroTV application has been used beforehand and no transponder is selected in the following menu, you are still tuned to a different TV or radio frequency. In this case please select a transponder of your choice and a tick will appear beside your choice.

Note: The EuroTV satellite dish symbol in your system tray shows if you are receiving a signal (symbol is green) or if there is no signal (symbol is red).

Now please log in to our website http://www.europeonline.net with your username and password and choose the same transponder you tuned to (as described above) in the scroll-down box underneath the password.

Once you are logged in please click “Download Centre” and select a file of your choice.

There are three steps to scheduling a download:

The first window that appears after selecting a file is called “Processing“ and informs you that your request is being processed.

The second window that appears is called “Download Receipt” and confirms your download.  It supplies you with various information, such as what time your download is scheduled (i.e. when you will receive the file via satellite).

The third window will appear and prompt you to download your file with the extension “.fza”.  Please choose to open this file from its current location and click “OK”.  This file contains important information about the file you selected, which has to be transferred into the Fazzt software.   By leaving the option “Always ask before opening this type of file“ blank (remove the tick) this process will become automatic and run in the background in future. In this case you will then only see a short flash and the .fza file is opened automatically.

Now please open your Fazzt Receive Log with a double mouse click on the pink Fazzt satellite dish symbol in your system tray. In the “Selective Reception” section of the log you will now be able to open folders and find a confirmation of the download(s) you scheduled.

After reception of the file at the scheduled time an entry will appear in the section “Transmissions“ of the Fazzt Receive Log. The status “Validated“ or “Complete“ indicates the successful reception of the file.

In the “Received files“ section of the Fazzt Receive Log the actual file can now be found and opened.  Received files can also be found in the folder as specified in the Fazzt configuration under “Virtual Paths“.  By default this directory is set to “C:\Program Files\Kencast\Fazzt\Incoming“.

Activation of the Offline E-Mail Notification: E-lert

E-lert notifies you about incoming e-mails on your europeonline.com address. You can create up to four aliases in your profile on our website. To start the E-lert software double-click on the E-lert icon on your desktop.

Now please type in your username and password in the window that follows and click on “Connect”.

Note: the username or alias has to be written in lower case.

If you set up the login process of E-lert and by mistake enter an incorrect username and password, you can undo these settings by launching the E-lert software.  Then select  “Tools”, “Options” and the function “Show login window at startup”.

Set Up of your Europe Online E-Mail Account

To start using your Europe Online e-mail account please log in to Europe Online with your username & password and then click on "Profile" on the blue navigation bar at the top of the page and re-enter your password to access your profile. This will bring up the following screen:

You will also find all other required settings for the E-Mail configuration such as POP Server, POP Password and SMTP Server.  Please make a careful note of the POP Account number from this table as you will need it to set up your E-Mail account in any E-Mail client you may want to use (such as Netscape, Outlook Express or Pegasus).

In the “E-Mail Setup” section of the Europe Online help pages you can find exact information about how to configure your e-mail account in Netscape and MS Outlook Express.

Receiving Television with the Europe Online DVB PCI Card

In order to receive all free-to-air digital TV and radio programs, please go to Start/Programs/Europe Online and select “EuroTV”.

Then please select in the right upper corner “Astra 19.2°” to get a list of all available free-to-air stations.

Now you can select the TV channel you wish to view. You will then be warned that you are tuned to a data transponder and that the reception of a TV or radio station will cause an interruption of any running download reception services. If you are not about to receive a download simply click on “Yes” and the TV or radio station will start.

Please remember to retune to a Europe Online transponder after you are finished with EuroTV in order to receive future scheduled downloads.
